About the Event


Join Nalanda Institute faculty for a Saturday retreat centered on mind-brain-body health and transformation. The morning session will involve guided yoga postures, deep breathing exercises, and Buddhist meditation practice incorporating mindful attunement and analytic insight.  The afternoon session will involve a cross-cultural, interdisciplinary presentation of goals of Contemplative Psychology including insight into selflessness and neural integration. This retreat is the culmination of the second class of Nalanda’s Four Year Program, but is open to all.

* Please wear comfortable clothes for freedom of movement and bring a yoga mat if you have one, otherwise mats will be provided.

Faculty Bios:

Dr. Miles Neale is a Buddhist psychotherapist in private practice and Assistant Director of the Nalanda Insititute for Contemplative Science.  A long time practitioner of Tibetan Buddhism, Miles has studied in the lineage of the Dalai Lamas with American scholars Joe Loizzo and Bob Thurman and Tibetan masters Lama Zopa and Gelek Rinpoche.

Dr. Emily Wolf is a counseling psychologist at Fordham University, Director of Research of the Nalanda Insititute for Contemplative Science and a certified yoga instructor.  Emily has studied Tibetan Buddhism with Joe Loizzo, Bob Thurman, Lama Zopa and Gelek Rinpoche and Ashtanga yoga with John Campbell and Manju Jois.

Shaun Nanavati is a PhD candidate in neuroscience at the New School and contemplative neuroscience faculty at Nalanda Institute, where he conducts clinical research on visualization and meditation for children with ADD.  Shaun is a long-time student of Buddhist scholar Joe Loizzo.
