On Saturday, Oct. 29, from 5-9:30 PM, Tibet House will be the setting for a Living Cinema event featuring interactive elements, film, performance, party and fundraiser for the upcoming feature-length film REFUGE~The Journeys, by New York-based director/producer John Halpern.
Refuge, originally a one-hour documentary film about East/West cultural fusion by Halpern, focused on a positive and healing message in the aftermath of 9/11. Now expanding into a feature-length film REFUGE~The Journeys, the film will continue its exploration of the impact of Buddhist culture and religion on Western society. It includes interviews with His Holiness the Dalai Lama, Martin Scorcese, Melissa Mathison, Richard Gere, Oliver Stone and Philip Glass, among others.
The Interactive LIVING CINEMA Program:
Yoga with teacher Amy Elias and New York Times best-selling author Priscilla Warner, author of "Learning To Breathe - My Year Long Quest to Bring Calm to My Life", published by Simon & Schuster. (this is a 'cooling and healing yoga, non-vigorous. Please come and sit-in if you like!!)
Musical Performances by Daniel McBride of Grammy-nominated band 13 Hands and Sundar Das Ruben Giron
Dance Performance by Murray Spalding MANDALAS
