About the Event
A new scientific model based on cutting-edge developments in neuroscience and related disciplines offers support for claims that certain forms of Tibetan meditation can lead to radically enhanced memory. This enhanced memory, in turn, is said to enable practitioners to access “genius-like” intellectual abilities, perception of the normally invisible particulate and vibratory nature of solid phenomena, and awareness of the dying process before, during, and – according to some scientists – after death. This course explores all these exciting phenomena from an integrative perspective.

About the Presenter
A. William C. Bushell, Ph.D., is a medical anthropologist, MIT Research Scholar and former Fullbright Scholar who studies the psychology, physiology, neurobiology, and health effects of meditation and related practices. His cross-cultural, multidisciplinary work has focused on the integration of rigorous physiological science with field research of meditation practices around the world, particularly in expert, virtuoso practitioners. He has hosted dialogues between the Dalai Lama and leading scientists on such practices, including the historic conference, “Longevity, Regeneration, and Optimal Health; Integrating Eastern and Western Perspectives,” the proceedings of which he co-edited for the New York Academy of Sciences (2009).
