About the Event

This session will present a marvelous overview of the Vajrayana or Tantric tradition of Tibet. Geshe Lhakdor will introduce the four different classes of Tantra and their varied techniques for mental development. He will explore the relationship of Tantra and Sutra and discuss the place of Tantra within the broader context of Hinayana and Mahayana Buddhism. If you have ever been curious about Tantra, this rare and precious opportunity to study with Geshe Lhakdor is not to be missed.

About the Presenter
Geshe Lhakdor has served His Holiness the Dalai Lama as his translator and religious assistant since 1989, accompanying him to numerous conferences, teachings and forums around the world. He has translated many important works from English to Tibetan and from Tibetan to English and offers rare insight into the cultural and philosophical issues surrounding Buddhism coming to the West. Geshe Lhakdor has also been quite involved in the growing academic and institutional interest in Buddhism in the West. He is a trustee of the Foundation for Universal Responsibility, and the Director of the Central Archive of the Dalai Lama. He is also a member of the Advisory Board of the Institute of Tibetan Classics in Montreal, Canada, and an Honorary Professor at the University of British Columbia, Canada. He currently serves as the Director of the Library of Tibetan Works and Archives in Dharamsala, India.
