About the Event

Nalanda Institute for Contemplative ScienceIn this course comprising three consecutive 4-part series and three weekend retreats, Drs. Loizzo and Neale teach the basic insights and skills Tibetans use to protect mind and body from the wear and tear of stress and to develop the inner peace, wise compassion, and healing vision we need to build a contemplative life in today’s complex world. Each series involves guided meditations and group discussions to foster experiential learning and to help participants find their way along the “gradual path” (lam rim) of contemplative living. Each series explores one of the three key meditation skills, deep mindfulness, mind-training and healing visualization, that are the active ingredients for stress-reduction and self-healing at the personal, social and cultural levels. Carefully preserved in Tibet, these in-the-world skills have been adapted by Dr. Loizzo in scientific programs tailored to our contemporary mindset and lifestyle.

Series III Retreat: Visualization: Bonding with the Healing Mentor
In this daylong retreat Dr. Loizzo will help cultivate inspiration and explain the positive qualities of the mentors-of-our-choosing by following the traditional Sevenfold Bonding Process.  We will then have the rare opportunity to get acquainted with the visualization performance script (sadhana) of the Healing Mentor (Bhaishajya-guru) and Healing Mother (Arya Tara), used to restore ourselves and others to optimal health by accessing the innate capacity of the subtle mind and nervous system.

Sunday, January 10, 10 AM - 5 PM

The three series and retreats can each and all be taken separately or together.

Series retreat: $100 General/ $90 Members
