A Shrine For Tibet: The Alice Kandell Collection (HC)

A Shrine for Tibet is the latest study of Tibetan sacred art, mainly sculpture & tangka paintings by Asian scholars  Marylin M. Rhie & Robert Thurman. The focus is on the art from the 15th-century Ganden Renaissance through the 17th century building of the Potala Palace, and into the 18th and 19th centuries with the flowering of Mongolian & Manchu Qing art in the Tibetan tradition.
